OLD CHURCH REORDERING
Progress, although rather slow, is being made in defining the final arrangements for the whole of the area of the old church. A small committee is involved in bringing together all aspects of the work with particular emphasis at the moment on the chancel and sanctuary.
We are in the process of preparing a faculty to submit to the Diocesan Advisory Committee for their approval. This application will be for removal of the old choir pews (currently removed on an experimental basis), the provision of the new chairs, carpeting for the area and a divider to separate off the old nave/community space from the sanctuary and chancel of the old church. This divider is essential not only to keep apart the two uses, but also to prevent the back row of chairs being pushed back and over the step. Also being considered is the provision of new kneelers which it is hoped will be something with which the church membership may get involved in making, this will not be part of the faculty application.
For the community space folding tables and better chairs need to be sourced and costed, the best use and provision of notice boards is also being addressed. There is still the outstanding painting of the walls and this is now going ahead. Additional power points are to be provided and the lighting in all areas is being upgraded, and we have asked for a quote to provide a loop system throughout the old church area
